UCSF is the first Critical Care program for APRNs in California and the first surgical ARPN nationwide to achieve this distinction.
The UCSF Surgical and Critical Care Nurse Practitioner Fellowship Program, a joint program of the Departments of Surgery, Anesthesia and UCSF Health, is led by Ivette Becerra-Ortiz, and overseen by a distinguished roster of faculty.
The fellowship program is designed to expand upon the knowledge and skills acquired during graduate nursing training. It prepares licensed and certified AG-ACNPs to provide care for adults in critical care and surgery settings through focused clinical rotations, and emphasizes advanced assessment, planning, negotiation and collaboration skills.
The program has been accedited with distinction by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Accreditation Program, the first Critical Care ARPN program in California and the first Surgical APRN program nationwide to earn this distinction.
UCSF is a recognized world leader in developing innovative solutions to health care delivery problems. The fellowship program leverages the resources within the UCSF system to prepare novice AG-ACNPs to excel in a tertiary medical center.
Fellows will be employed by the Department of Nursing at the UCSF School of Medicine, and credentialed to provide services at UCSF Medical Center. Fellows are full-time salaried employees with health care and vacation benefits. Fellows are evaluated at the completion of each clinical rotation based on the NONPF competencies.
